Aberdeen have been given permission to talk to St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson about replacing  .

"St Mirren Football Club can confirm that we have been approached by Aberdeen FC to speak to manager Stephen Robinson in relation to their managerial vacancy," said the Scottish Premiership club in a statement.

"Aberdeen have met a contractual clause in Stephens contract so the club has granted them permission to speak with him regarding the vacancy.

"We hope for a swift resolution to this matter and will keep supporters updated."

Peter Leven has been in interim charge since Thelin's departure, with the Dons having been close to appointing Eirik Horneland last month, only for uncertainty around a personal issue to cause his move to Pittodrie to stall.

Arsenal and Barca considering Brandt move

Icon

Latest from Sky Germany:

Arsenal and Barcelona are believed to be among the clubs considering Julian Brandt on a free transfer this summer.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken confirmed at the weekend that Brandt would not be signing a new deal at the club with his current one expiring in June.

The 29-year-old wants to leave Germany altogether and play abroad, with England, Spain and Italy all appealing leagues to the creative midfielder.

He would not be expected to be a regular starter at neither Arsenal nor Barcelona, according to Sky Germany, and more likely to be a squad addition.

There has been no concrete interest or offers from any club yet and no in-depth conversations with his father and advisor Jurgen Brandt.

Wild appointed Tranmere boss on short-term deal

Pete Wild has been appointed as Tranmere's new manager on a deal running until the end of the season.

Wild, 41, has only been out of work since January 25, when he was sacked by Fleetwood after 13 months in the job.

He succeeds Andy Crosby, who was dismissed on March 4.

Rovers sit 19th in Sky Bet League Two, seven points above the relegation zone with 10 games to play.

Chairman Mark Palios said: Im delighted to bring in Pete and Adam [Temple, Wild's assistant].

"Pete was the standout candidate he has managed more than 300 matches and has shown the ability to improve the teams he has worked with.

Its not an easy situation for any manager coming into an injury-ravaged squad but Pete has assured me he is relishing the opportunity to stabilise and instil some confidence in the team as we look to get back to winning ways.

Dortmund consider Sancho return

Icon

Latest from Sky in Germany's Patrick Berger:

Borussia Dortmund are considering another move for Jadon Sancho this summer.

Internal talks are already underway in the boardroom, with Sancho set to be a free transfer when his Manchester United contract and Aston Villa loan deal expire simultaneously this June.

According to Sky Germany, Sancho is willing to sign for Dortmund for less than he currently earns at United.

However, there are some voices at Dortmund with doubts as to whether another return of the winger would be the right thing at this time.

Sancho has already had two successful spells at Dortmund making his name there after signing as a youth from Manchester City and then returning on loan from United in January 2024.

He then went on loan to Chelsea last season and has been linked with a return to Dortmund several times in the meantime.

Pochettino will be in attendance as Spurs face Atletico

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to be in attendance when his old club play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Spurs face Atletico at Riyadh Air Metropolitano in the first leg of a last-16 tie in the Champions League.

The fixture will bring back painful memories for Tottenham after they lost the Champions League final at the ground in Madrid in 2019 when Pochettino was manager, with the 54-year-old understood to be at the match as a guest of Atletico.

Pochettino, who is the United States boss, will get the chance to watch America midfielder Johnny Cardosa and also cast an eye on his former team.

Spurs fans chanted about Pochettino during last months 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle and the Argentine coach has frequently been linked with a return to the north London club since his 2019 departure.

Pochettino will lead USA at this summers home World Cup, but his contract is set to expire after the conclusion of the tournament.
